Loco Ironico is The brainchild of British singer-songwriter Joe Cang and Italian musician and composer Matteo Saggese.

Songs of GMO crops, shipwreck and elusive future physical fitness that draw on New Orleans jazz, Cuban tango and Caribbean calypso.

Think Dr John,Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Buena Vista.

‘We started writing on a rainy day in London and quickly realised that this was music that wanted to be made in one go, no tricks, smoke or mirrors, just people, instruments, microphones and music all together live in one room, capturing the unique moments as they happen.

So, in a tiny medieval village in the mountains near Naples, nourished by the warmth, peace and pace of village life, they set up a studio in an old house with Jerry Boys at the recording controls and featuring the likes of Phil Manzanera, Sarah Jane Morris, Tony Remy and Steve Sidwell

Building on the critically acclaimed Carpe Afternoon with their second album Mambo Gumbo and their EP The Covers mixing sounds, styles and songs together into a slow-cooked sonic stew for your musical nourishment.

A recent review of their London show at Pizza Express Dean St described them as:

“Rich, alive and with roots in sounds that have been sorely missing from an homogenising landscape, Loco Ironico are the real deal.”

As Joe says: ‘This is music for those with a taste for the ironic and laconic and for those who prefer whisky to tonic”
