Join Toby Nowell and Hugh Crozier for a night of classic early jazz and vaudeville. Bringing to life old classics from the 1920s and 30s, including rarities from Bix, Jabbo Smith, Jelly Roll Morton and Lester Young; their repertoire also includes vaudeville numbers, nodding to Toby’s father, Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell, of the Bonzo Dog Doo Daa band!
Toby Nowell is an eclectic multi-instrumentalist, playing trumpet, gypsy guitar, saxophones, clarinet and vocals. As well as a talented jazz player, he is well known for playing Balkan Brass (Runaway Wedding Band, Bucimis, Balkanatics) and is a regular at the Jazz Café with Bukky Leo’s Black Egypt, playing Afro-Beat. Hugh Crozier, pianist and vocalist, is one of the finest exponents of the Jelly Roll Morton style of piano playing, and a brilliant boogie-woogie player.
