Le QuecumBar presents:
The Hot Strings Review featuring Louise Messenger
'The Hot Strings Review comprises Mike Piggott (Violin), Laurence Corns (Guitar/Vocals) and Tom Wheatley (Double Bass). Founded by Mike Piggott who has been described by the New York Times as 'one of the best jazz fiddlers anywhere', they will be exploring the repertoire of 30s giants such as Stuff Smith, Fats Waller and Slim Gaillard with smoking intensity. Collectively the group has worked with a wide range of artists from different genres such as Bert Jansch, Peter Green, Martin Taylor, Bucky Pizzarelli, Madeleine Peyroux, The Bhundu Boys and Bryan Ferry. This gives them a unique take on the music, making them not just your average Gypsy Swing Band.
To add a sweet, sultry quality to the show they will be joined by singer Louise Messenger who, as a recent arrival from Australia has been making quite a name on the London swing scene. As a dancer herself she has won the heart of the Lindy Hop community and is described by Adelaide's Theatre Guide as 'a performer of immense talent conveying a love of her craft for the enjoyment of her audience'.
